By 13.000 inhabitants Schwaz is one of Tiroleans bigger towns. Schwaz is ingrained in the natural grown scenery of the Inntal valley and known as the silver town.

The sights of Schwaz are varying and diverse. Churches, silver mines, historical buildings and several museums characterize the touristic possibilities of Schwaz.

The town is located on the main road to Innsbruck in the Eastern part of the federal state Tirol.

The municipality of Schwaz consists of following districts and villages: Ried, Pirchanger, Bleiberg, Ost, Sonnseite, Surheim, and Falkenstein.
